A transfer target, which Liverpool have been interested in for quite some time, is surely going to die down after recent developments. According to reports, Julian Brandt, who was linked with Liverpool for past few transfer windows, has penned a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen, which will keep him at the club till 2021.
With Liverpool receiving a huge transfer money from selling Coutinho, it was believed that Klopp would go hard in the next transfer window for Brandt. But this new deal has certainly derailed their plans. Leverkusen would be glad that they managed to pursue their prized asset to sign a new deal. The winger has scored 9 goals this season and assisted a further six.
Klopp, who has been the admirer of the German international, will now have to look somewhere else for a signing. Liverpool were interested in Brandt even in the last summer transfer window but nothing materialised. As a result, Liverpool went for Mohamed Salah who was part of the AS Roma outfit last season and what a signing it turned out to be, as Salah is currently leading the golden boot race in the premier league.
Currently, there is no denying Liverpool’s attacking outlet, but the team will surely go through a period where their key men might be injured. At present, Liverpool doesn’t have an able replacement for Salah or Mane and with Brandt out of the picture here are few options, which Liverpool can go for.
Riyad Mahrez– The Algerian star has been brilliant for the Foxes in the Premier League. He was their main man when Leicester City did the unthinkable of winning the Premier League. He has been looking to move out of the King Power Stadium for quite some time now and he will certainly be a good addition to the Liverpool squad.
James Rodriguez– James Rodriguez came into limelight with a great performance in the World Cup. After joining Real Madrid, he became a fringe player as he struggled to get a start ahead of Bale and Isco. Since then he has been plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, who he joined on loan. With Madrid set to go for Eden Hazard in the summer transfer window, it will be relatively hard for him to find a place in the star-studded lineup. Liverpool can be a great option for him and he can flourish under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
Julian Draxler– Julian Draxler is another option, which Klopp can go after. He is adept at playing in various positions upfront. But most often he plays as a left winger. He hasn’t been that regular in Paris Saint Germain outfit as he is competing for places with Neymar and Di Maria. Liverpool has previously been linked with the German and now it could be a good time to bring him at Anfield.
