Very few players in the City squad have been as effective as Wilson in the final stretch of the season and Nigel Adkins wants to keep him for a prolonged period of time. The Reds are confirming a spot in the top-four of the Premier League and are gunning for the final of the UEFA Champions League by beating AS Roma in the Semi-Finals.
Their position in England’s top-flight has improved significantly upon Jurgen Klopp’s appointment but they still have not won any silverware under the German. They have just lost Philippe Coutinho in the previous transfer window and will need summer reinforcements for an improved 2018/19 season.
However, how much of future does Wilson really have at Anfield? The 21-year-old has just found his shooting boots in England’s second division and is was at the bottom the pecking order in the first half of the season.
Klopp still has proven talents like Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and the auspicious Mohamed Salah in the wing position. When youngsters like Ben Woodburn does not have any hopes of featuring in the senior squad even sporadically, it leaves little space for Wilson to fit in.
In addition to the current scenario, Liverpool are hoping to reinvest their Coutinho-transfer-fee on an established wide man. This does paint a pretty picture for Wilson mostly due to the opportunities he can get with Hull.
His previous loan spell with Crewe Alexander did not prove to be as beneficial as this one with just 7 appearances in his 4 months with the League One outfit. He is a highly rated prodigy to come out of the Liverpool youth ranks and needs the playing minutes to establish himself within the spectrum of English football.
