Liverpool are plotting a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are planning on making a swoop for the Portuguese international when the transfer window opens in the summer. The 21-year-old has put in some sensational displays for Wolves during the course of this campaign which has caught the attention of the Merseysiders ahead of the summer transfer period.
Neves scored a wondergoal for the West Midlands team in their league victory over Derby County, a few weeks back which showed how talented he really is! Some sources are now claiming that Jurgen Klopp is ready to make a move for the Portuguese youngster in the off-season as he looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new campaign.
Neves signed for the Wolves from FC Porto last summer for a club record transfer fee of £15m. Since then, he has gone on to make 39 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season, scoring 6 goals while creating one assist in the league. His current contract at the Molineaux Stadium runs out in the summer of 2022 which means that the Premier League new boys will be no pressure to sell their star asset.
The Merseyside outfit are currently enjoying a rich vein of form in the Premier League and find themselves in the 3rd position with a tally of 70 points in 34 matches. Klopp’s side have recently earned an impressive 3-0 home victory in their last league encounter and are in the driver’s seat to secure a top 4 finish this season.
The potential signing of Neves will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options as they look to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next term. Liverpool have the likes of Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Ben Woodburn and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vying for a place in Klopp’s starting eleven with the impending arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig in the summer. The acquisition of the Portuguese midfielder will definitely add more competition for places in the Reds squad.
