Liverpool are looking to make a swoop for Valencia forward Ferran Torres this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are monitoring his development at the Mestalla Stadium and could be lining up a summer move for the Spanish striker.
The La Liga side recently renewed his contract until the summer of 2020. However, it also contains a €25m buyout clause which can pave the way for a potential switch to Merseyside in the off-season. A Sky Sports football expert, Guillem Balague has confirmed reports by claiming that Jurgen Klopp’s side are keeping tabs on the young Spaniard. Torres is a product of the Valencia academy and has broken into Marcelino García Toral’s senior team this season which has not gone unnoticed as Liverpool are ready to pounce on his signature this summer.
The 18-year-old has featured in 19 matches for Valencia, scoring once while providing two assists in all competitions. At a mere age of 18, he is still young and needs to play regular first-team football to develop his game and fulfil his massive potential.
The Redmen of Merseyside are currently occupying the 3rd position in the Premier League table after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory away at Selhurst Park versus Crystal Palace last weekend. The Merseyside outfit are just two points above Tottenham Hotspur, having played a game more, going into the final six matches of the season. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are a staggering 18 points behind the Premier League champions-elect Manchester City and are in need of some reinforcements in the summer.
The addition of Torres will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options in the future but for now, he needs time to develop his game in order to have a chance of making an impact in the Liverpool first-team. The five-time European champions have already had a star from Spain named ‘Torres’ in the form of Fernando Torres in the past so Ferran’s signing will definitely catch the attention of the Kopites but whether he can manage to handle the high expectations of playing for a Premier League giant like Liverpool remains to be seen.

Jurgen Klopp has proven in the past that he is willing to give his young players a chance as evidenced by the recent emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Ben Woodburn and Andrew Robertson. Hence, a move for Torres makes sense for the club as he has immense potential to be a future star in the Premier League. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Torres and whether he ends up making a switch to Anfield in the near future.
