Leicester City are plotting a move for Norwich City winger Josh Murphy this summer. According to recent reports, the Foxes are planning on making a swoop for the Canaries midfielder when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the financial situation of the Norfolk-based club could pave the way for Murphy’s potential transfer to the King Power Stadium.
However, the West Midlands outfit could face stiff competition from Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in pursuit of the English midfielder’s signature. Murphy has put in some dazzling displays for the Canaries during the course of this season, which includes his recent man of the match performance versus Aston Villa last weekend.
Josh Murphy’s twin brother, Jacob Murphy has already made a step up to the Premier League when he signed for Newcastle United last summer for a fee in the region of £12m. Only time will tell whether Josh does the same and ends up plying his trade in the English top-flight next season. The 23-year-old has featured in 42 matches for Norwich City this season, scoring 10 goals while providing two assists in all competitions.
The Foxes are currently lying in the 8th position in the Premier League table with a tally of 43 points in 32 league matches. They are still on the hunt to secure a top 7 finish at the end of the season and are just 6 points adrift of 7th placed Burnley going into the final stretch of the campaign.
The addition of Murphy will undoubtedly bolster Claude Puel’s midfield options ahead of the new campaign as they look to build on their league performance next term. The West Midlands outfit have the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and Demarai Gray vying for a place in Puel’s first-team. The potential signing of Murphy will definitely add more competition for places in the Foxes squad as they look to earn a strong league finish in the new season.

The 23-year-old is highly versatile and can operate on either flank which makes him a perfect fit for Leicester City. At 23, the Canaries winger has his peak years ahead of him which the Foxes could look to capitalise on in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Murphy and whether he ends up making a switch to the Premier League in the near future.
