Leeds United had a rock steady start to their new season. Under new boss Thomas Christiansen the club seemed to be moving in the right direction. When Gary Monk had left the club high and dry earlier, everyone including the fans and the board were disappointed. However, over time people moved on and watching Leeds succeed under new Danish boss Christiansen made everyone happy.
As the Leeds journey moved forward, the club looked extremely good. They were getting wins under their belt and their defence was solid. They played free-flowing football that was easy on the eye. Their shift to a 4-2-3-1 formation allowed their defensive midfielders to operate all over the pitch leaving the attackers to create havoc in the final third.
However, over time their new style of play was no longer a secret and teams caught up with their philosophy. This is when the problems began. As teams had figured out Leeds and were beating them, Christiansen was expected to either change or improve upon his tactics. However, the manager seemed unable to improvise and proved to be a one-trick pony.
This left Leeds reeling and they were bleeding fast. The club had lost its way and with that, they had also lost all hopes of qualifying for the English Premier League by winning the Sky Bet Championships. However, they were still in and around the playoffs spot. Still, Christiansen was fired and the manager was replaced by Paul Heckingbottom.
The new man brought in did little to improve the club. The club continued on their downward spiral with Leeds losing one match after the other. They collapsed like a house of cards and now Leeds stand with next to zero hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.
The club has seen a sudden demise of form but one man who has stood out in this hard time is Pablo Hernandez. The veteran Spanish forward who had played previously in England for Swansea City has been in great form. He has been scoring and assisting every time he has been put on the pitch.

Despite his great form, it seems he will now be leaving. He is at the end of his contract and it seems Leeds are unable to get him to agree to set new terms. It would be a grave loss for Leeds to lose Hernandez as he is a player who can not only score but lead given his experience in football and that is exactly what a club like Leeds need right now.
