West Ham are willing to offer their young midfielder Declan Rice a new contract as they have been impressed by the 19-year-old’s development. He is being touted to have a big future for his club and country and at such a young age, he has already represented his national side, Ireland, once.
West Ham had a poor start to the season as they were languishing in and around the relegation zone when Slaven Bilic was sacked in November. The board appointed the experienced David Moyes to bring stability to the club. The move had lukewarm reactions from the Hammers faithful as Moyes has seen his stocks go down after his dismal stint with Manchester United. But one must still remember that he has a plethora of experience in the Premier League and made Everton, a top half team in his later part of the stint with them.
However, slowly but steadily, Moyes has brought them back to safety amidst all the negative surroundings as West Ham owners have been targetted by the fans. In a match against Burnley, the fans ran onto the pitch and clearly showed their frustration. The board has been impressed with the Scot manager and how he has handled everything in difficult times and are willing to give him an extended stay at the club. West Ham are currently on 35 points and are in good position to survive in the top flight for one more season at least.
Declan Rice is a former Chelsea youth player and usually plays in the defensive midfield role. The midfielder can also fill in as a centreback and is touted as one of the top talents to come from Ireland in recent times.
Moyes is expected to stay at the club if he ensures West Ham’s safety and he is trying to enhance their future by improving Declan Rice’s contract. The midfielders current contract keeps him at the club until 2020, which was signed in March last year. But the Hammers are looking to improve the contract as they are seeing the midfielder as a long-term prospect.

Rice is usually composed on the ball and has shown maturity beyond his age. He reads the game well and can dictate the tempo of the game. He is good with his tackling as well as interceptions and can be longterm midfield option for the Hammers. So it is no surprise that Moyes is looking to secure him for the future by making him sign a new improved contract.
