Everton are looking to secure the services of Benfica forward Raúl Jiménez next summer. According to recent reports, the Toffees are prepared to make an offer for the Mexican ace when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the Portuguese giants could let him depart the club if the right offer comes in as they feel that they can get a good value for any potential deal involving the transfer of their prized asset in the off-season.
However, the Merseysiders are not the only ones looking to make a swoop for his services with West Ham United and Liverpool also in the mix to sign him this summer. Jimenez has put in some dazzling displays for Benfica during the course of this campaign, which has not gone unnoticed as the Toffees look to bring in some reinforcements in the summer. The 26-year-old has featured in 37 matches for Benfica this season, finding the back of the net 6 times while creating 6 assists across all competitions. Gimenez also has 61 international caps and 13 goals to his name for the Mexican national side so far.
The Benfica forward made a rabona assist in the past weekend which has enhanced his growing reputation even more and now, the Toffees look set to battle it out with Liverpool and West Ham in pursuit of his signature.
The Merseyside outfit are currently in the 9th position in the Premier League standings with a tally of 40 points in 32 matches. They are still in with a shout of earning a top 7 finish in the league but are six points behind 7th placed Burnley going into the final few matches of the season.
The addition of Gimenez will undoubtedly bolster Allardyce’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign as they look to challenge for the top 6 places next term. Everton have the likes of Cenk Tosun, Wayne Rooney, Oumar Niasse and Theo Walcott vying for a place in Allardyce’s starting eleven. The potential signing of Gimenez will definitely add more competition for places in the Toffees squad next season.
At 26, the Mexican forward still has his peak years ahead of him, which Allardyce’s team could look to utilise in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Jimenez and whether the Blues of Merseyside are able to fend off stiff competition from West Ham and Liverpool in pursuit of his signature.
