A host of European clubs including the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon and Ajax are interested in Chelsea’s prodigy Mason Mount. The 19-year-old English winger can play anywhere in the attacking midfield zone and is a gifted young footballer. He recently became the third Chelsea loanee at Vitesse Arnhem to win the Player of The Year award at the club.
He is now being scouted by several top clubs in Europe. Mount has enjoyed a fantastic season in Europe where he has played 36 games for Vitesse scoring 8 goals and creating 8 assists. He is technically good, has a calm head and eye for the spectacular.
Mount is set to come back from his loan to West London at the end of the season and the Blues will now have to take a decision whether to keep him, loan him out again or sell him to a potential suitor for a decent price. Mount himself will play a major role in the negotiations as the future in question here is his.
Chelsea have a habit of producing world-class young talents but somehow the club has been unable to showcase these prodigies in their first team or integrate them into their senior sides. The Blues have an excellent project in place in the youth academy with the Chelsea boys winning several domestic and European accolades over the years.
However, the Blues have not been able to successfully bring these players into their first team. They continue to buy from the inflated market and while sometimes they do get extraordinary talents like Eden Hazard and Cesar Azpilicueta on the cheap, they are often misled as well, as has been the case with Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Frenchman cost a lot of money but is yet to live up to his potential.
This would mean that Chelsea need to seriously consider their options at hand, which is the youth team and the reserve team stars. Players like Ryan Bertrand, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah have all come from here and there is no reason why Mason Mount cannot be just as good as them if not better, should he be given the chance.

Come the next season, there is little hope of Champions League football at Stamford Bridge meaning that the Blues will be heading for Europa League. Chelsea can surely take a leaf out of Arsene Wenger’s book next season and look to promote their young talents like Mount and Loftus-Cheek by playing them in the group stages of the European competition.
