Richarlison, the Brazilian striker, had a good start to the Premier League this season for Watford. The Brazilian was on the scoresheet 5 times in his first 13 appearances. He was signed for £11.2million from Fluminense last year. He was supposed to play second fiddle to the likes of Troy Deeney and Andre Gray but after his good performances in the first few games, he became a regular started for Watford.
The 20-year-old, however, has struggled for last 3-4 months and has lost his place currently in the Watford lineup. He scored last in November against West Ham and since then his season has gone downhill. Watford being relatively safe from relegation are assured of another year in top-flight football. It’s been reported that the Hornets want around £40 million for the striker. To sign Richarlison, Chelsea are going to face competition from the likes of PSG and Monaco as they are also showing good interest in the Hornets forward.
Richarlison as a player is quite versatile as he can play as a striker and on either flank. He has frequently played on the left this season and managed to influence a lot of attacking moves for Watford especially in the early part of the season. He looks a bit on the lighter side but can go head to head with the biggest of the players. He is adept at playing with both feet and is technically gifted. He is a good player overall but being young he falls prey to youthful naivety.
Chelsea who could lose out some of their key men this summer will have to look for an able replacement. They are currently on the verge of missing out on the coveted UCL berth and this can make it tough for them to hold onto their key players like Eden Hazard, Willian and Thibaut Courtois.
Chelsea as a team has been poor at the back as well as in the attacking front. Their last season was built on strong defensive performance but this year they are far from it. Upfront the likes of Pedro and Morata having an average season. Hazard has been inconsistent and hasn’t been able to influence the play as much as we know he can.
