As per one of the latest reports by Metro, Chelsea have compiled a four-man shortlist of potential replacements for Antonio Conte. The Blues clinched the Premier League title under the tutelage of Conte last season but his stewardship has been criticized left right and centre this season and his days at the Stamford Bridge seems to be heavily numbered.
Chelsea have flattered to deceive in what was supposed to be their season of defending their Premier League title and have collected 60 points from 33 league fixtures this season. They are currently placed at the 5th spot in the league table, 7 points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur, who hold the 4th spot. Thus, there is no denying that they are unlikely to feature in the Champions League next season.
Conte’s troops came back from two goals down to win 3-2 at St. Mary’s on Saturday but that doesn’t take away the fact that they have lost 9 league outings this season, which is certainly not acceptable as per their high standards. Manchester City have bulldozed past their opponents in the English top flight with relative ease and Chelsea barely stood in their way. A breath of freshness is required at Chelsea and Brendan Rodgers is apparently on the watch of the English giants.
Rodgers moved to Celtic in 2016 after leaving Liverpool in 2015 and has enjoyed tremendous success with the Bhoys. Last season, Celtic clinched the domestic treble and are on their way to repeat the same this time around as well. With the Scottish Premiership title and Scottish League Cup already in their bag, the Celts thrashed Rangers 4-0 on Sunday at the Hampden Park to secure their place in the final of the Scottish Cup.
The 45-year-old started his managerial career with Watford back in 2008 before moving to Reading. However, his spell as the gaffer of Swansea City made him a household name and after a couple of seasons with the Swans, he was lured to the Anfield. His time with Liverpool was a mixture of good and bad days and during the 2013-14 season, the Reds went very close to clinch the Premier League title.

That didn’t happen and after that, Liverpool produced mediocre results during the next two seasons under his watch and he was eventually sacked by the club in October 2015. The Scot has an unfinished business in the English top flight but he might not be the one whom Chelsea fans might be craving to see next season to replace Conte. Apart from Rodgers, Luis Enrique, Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are also in the contention and it will be intriguing to see what happens after the end of the season.
