The fight for the deal of a fullback this summer is about to get intense with most English clubs trying to get a new defender on board. Amongst the many options in place, one is Layvin Kurzawa. He is being actively pursued by not one, not two but three big clubs in England.
The clubs in question here are Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have Danny Rose and Ben Davies in place. Although things with Rose are a slightly off balance, he is still an excellent defender. Davies, on the other hand, has been excellent this season meaning that he has been promoted to the first choice left back.
At United, the situation is different. There is Ashley Young, a winger who has played out of place but has been their first choice. He has been excellent in defence and his crossing has been just as good. In second, comes in Luke Shaw. Shaw’s career has seen him get many starts but he has failed to convert any of them into real form. This leaves Matteo Darmian who is not that good either. This would mean that they will be in the hunt for a new defender at left back and Kurzawa could be a good choice.
Finally comes Chelsea. The blues had a thin squad to begin their season with. However, over time they got a new player in Emerson. It meant that Chelsea had two good wing backs with Marcos Alonso and Emerson.
Alonso has been excellent and was recently named in the PFA Team of the Year. He has been the obvious first choice but Emerson has not been bad either in the little time he got. This would mean that Chelsea are well set in that position. They have a system which needs five defenders to play at one single time but the wing back role can only be played by one. Moreover, they have Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta as well who can fill in that position easily.

Hence getting a new player in the form of Kurzawa in that position is going to mean that they have too many players involved. Chelsea will definitely to strengthen their squad over the summer. However, they are short on cash after their owner became purse-stringent last season. This means that they cannot afford to waste money on a player they do not need.
