According to recent reports, the talented Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio is being linked with a move away from the Los Blancos to Chelsea FC. It was expected that a lot of big clubs will be lining up to sign him in the summer but the rumours and speculations have already started even before the season has ended.
The report mentions that Real Madrid has already rejected an offer of €100 million. But it is expected that Roman Abrahmovic will come back with a bigger and better offer for the Spaniard. Asensio might not have been regular for the Madrid outfit but has delivered some match-winning performances whenever Zidane has used him. Apart from Chelsea, the two Manchester clubs have also shown interest in the attacking midfielder.
Chelsea currently, are having a poor season under Antonio Conte. The Italian has failed to inspire his team this season as they are sitting on the 5th spot in the Premier League. It was only last year when everything seemed merry at the London club as the Blues went on to win the Premier League title in Conte’s first season. But the departure of some key players and the poor form of others have contributed to the poor season which the Blues are facing.
At Chelsea’s present situation it will be tough for them to lure Asensio as they are not even guaranteed of Champions League football next season. If Chelsea fails to qualify for it, it will be a backward step for Asensio to move from Real Madrid to Chelsea.
Asensio might have struggled for game time but he is banging on the door hard, for a place in the starting lineup and with the likes of Isco and Bale uncertain about their future at the club, the Spaniard can feature in the playing eleven more regularly in the next season.

Chelsea themselves can lose out on some key players, as their star winger, Eden Hazard has been repeatedly linked with the Los Blancos. In a situation like that, The Blues can be smart in the transfer market as they can include Asensio in the deal of Hazard with the Spaniard joining the Londoners. One cannot count out anything as Chelsea will be looking to strengthen their side to mount up a better challenge in all competitions. From Asensio’s point of view, he would like to stay at Madrid as he has the potential to be a regular starter even in the star-studded Real Madrid lineup. If the Galacticos let Asensio leave, it will certainly not go down well with their faithful’s as he is being considered as the next big thing in the football world and his best years are yet to come.
