Celtic have been the superlative force in Scottish football for years and maintained their supremacy despite famous rivals Rangers’ top-flight return last season. They are closing in on securing back-to-back domestic trebles under Brendan Rodgers – the former Liverpool and Swansea City gaffer who is eyeing to restore the long-lost pride in European competitions.
The Hoops are not blessed to spend millions in the transfer market, therefore, plotting a swoop for Bayern Munich youngster Thomas Isherwood this summer in order to groom him for first-team football.
The 20-year-old Swedish youth international centre-back joined the Bavarians back in 2015 and has drawn attention following some towering displays for the reserve side. However, he has not been promoted to the senior side yet as there’s little hope of the same in a star-studded Bayern Munich lineup.
Celtic, on the other hand, are expecting a summer overhaul as the likes of Dedryck Boyata, Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko are likely to part ways next season and the Parkhead club will require defensive reinforcements despite the presence of teenager Kristoffer Ajer, young Jack Hendry and veteran Marvin Compper.
The highly-rated youngster doesn’t have much time left in his current deal to run out and Bayern Munich, being unable to offer him senior minutes, are likely to welcome offers for the decorated defender. The Glasgow giants are reportedly one of his many admirers who want the Swedish starlet in their ranks and view him as a first-team resource at Celtic Park.
Rodgers has promoted an array of youngsters who are flourishing in Scottish football and drawing the attention of European big guns. Hence, the odds of the senior minutes are quite high for Isherwood in Scotland as the league allows the players to grow mentally as well as physically to perform on a bigger platform.
The Hoops are on the verge of winning another domestic treble but struggled in Europe once more. The Northern Irishman is forced to work on a shoestring here in Celtic, thus, concentrating on developing the youngsters who can gradually improve and carry them forward in abroad too. These opportunities make the prodigies confident and self-assured which, in turn, motivate them to commit the cent percent for the manager who believes in their abilities and the football club they are representing with honour.

A move, therefore, is pretty likely for the starlet if Celtic are keen on bringing him this summer and strengthening their defensive line for seasons to come.
