As per one of the latest reports by the Scotsman, Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign Celtic’s dazzling youngster, Kristoffer Ajer in the summer. The German giants are perceived to be monitoring the developmental process of Ajer very close and apart from them, Premier League outfits such as Tottenham Hotspur, Watford and Southampton are also interested to acquire his services, as per the Daily Star.
Celtic might not have been as stupendous as they were last season in the domestic competitions but they are all set to clinch the Scottish Premiership title in a pretty commendable manner once again. Brendan Rodgers has certainly made the most of the resources he had this season and there is no denying that. Ajer has been one of the notable upbringings for the Bhoys under Rodgers this season.
There have been occasions when the former Liverpool and Swansea City boss lacked the adequate amount of defenders in his arsenal as some of his key players were sidelined due to injuries. However, one of the most intriguing aspects about Rodgers has been his inclination to give the youngsters the platform to thrive and to make their presence felt.
Ajer started the season as a fourth-choice centre-back but now, he is arguably the first-choice central defender for the Hoops. He got the opportunities and he grabbed them with open arms as he chiselled stupendous and resilient performances more often than not. The 19-year-old has featured in 17 Scottish Premiership games and occasions when the Glasgow giants looked vulnerable at the back, he stepped up and thus, he has earned positive reviews.
The Norway international has proven himself to be an excellent reader of the game and has showcased immense maturity and calmness at the back. He has handled the crunch situations well and has arguably been the best defender for Celtic after Kieran Tierney. He has grown in stature under the guidance of Rodgers and in the coming seasons, he should be able to polish himself further.
With the apparent interest from some big clubs of the continent for Ajer, the Celts could land themselves a substantial amount of profit if they let the centre-back leave the Celtic Park. However, they must refrain from doing the same as it would be a massive blow to their upcoming prospects. He is a prized asset of the club and if he manages to remain consistent, he can follow the footsteps of Tierney and make a mark on Scottish football.
