CSKA Moscow and their city of have witnessed encounters of plenty between them and the English clubs but their home record against an English club was something along the lines of being winless in 6 encounters and Arsenal made it seven tonight. Carrying a 1-4 aggregate lead was always going to be a cushion but Wenger’s men threw it almost as they conceded two before being rescued by Danny Welbeck and then Ramsey added the cherry on top. A 6-3 aggregate score shows the supremacy of the North London club over their counterparts.
Here’s how the Gunners have been rated after a good European tie where they have triumphed overall.
Petr Cech – 6/10
He won’t really be a man who will be pleased tonight. He put in a shift but his defenders should have helped for the first goal they conceded.
Hector Bellerin – 5.5/10
He was decent and arguably the best of all the 4 that constituted Arsenal’s defence.
Shkodran Mustafi – 3.5/10
It was a shocker personally watching him today. He was abysmal and his errors continued to pile along today. His fault led to the first goal too.
Laurent Koscielny – 4.5/10
Slightly better than his German partner when it came to the poverty of the performance but he too was poor. His positioning looked uncertain and overall had a negative game.
Nacho Monreal – 4/10
Offered very little moving forward and his form suddenly dropped today. Possibly one of the worst games for him this season.
Aaron Ramsey – 6/10
Didn’t really get into the first half and looked a bit jaded overall but his goal came at a crucial time and he’s put Arsenal on a very promising position in Europe after a lot of time. His goalscoring form or the impact rate does continue to rise.
Mohamed Elneny – 8.5/10
His energy and his desire today to put in a shift and settle the midfield after halftime was heartening to see and he put in one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt. Terrific and one would only hope that he continues this whenever he’s played.
Jack Wilshere – 3/10
Very poor today. There cannot be a better description than that.
Mesut Ozil – 6.5/10
Looked like he would make it his night today as he began with some good flair and put in some energy but that faded as the game grew until he was involved again towards the end. Decent.
Danny Welbeck – 6/10
Got his goal and took it well by opening his body. Only managed to step up in the last two quarters.
Alexandre Lacazette – 4.5/10
Couldn’t have an impact on proceedings and he was rightly subbed off.
Substitutes
Calum Chambers – 6/10
Eased some stability into the Arsenal ranks and did his bit. Good performance.
