Arsenal are lining up a bid for RB Leipzig wide man Emil Forsberg this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are in with a great chance to prise the £35m rated midfielder away from the Bundesliga club when the transfer window opens in the summer. The Swedish winger was sent off versus Hoffenheim in Leipzig’s last league outing which could see him miss the remainder of the campaign as he will now have to serve out a three-match suspension.
In a recent interview, Forsberg’s agent addressed the incident and was quoted to have said, “The ban is a scandal! Emil was fouled and provoked, didn’t even hit his opponent properly. The verdict is an attack on RB and Emil. They would not have done such a thing to a Bayern Munich player!”
AC Milan were interested in the Swedish international last summer but a move failed to materialise. It now looks likely that he will switch clubs in this summer transfer period with the Emirates Stadium being a possible destination for the 26-year-old. He has made 33 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, scoring 5 goals and grabbing 4 assists in all competitions.
The North London outfit have a tally of 57 points after taking part in 34 league fixtures and are currently occupying the 6th position in the top-flight standings. All of Arsenal’s hopes are on the UEFA Europa League basket with an important home tie against Atletico Madrid looming on the horizon.
The addition of Forsberg will undoubtedly bolster Arsenal’s attacking options going into the new season. Arsenal have the likes of Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil vying for a place in the Arsene Wenger’s first-team. The potential acquisition of Forsberg will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Wenger’s squad.

Forsberg is highly versatile and can play in a number of different position across the pitch. The Swedish winger primarily operates on the left-flank but can also be deployed in the right flank which makes him an ideal fit for any of his potential suitors.
At 26, the RB Leipzig attacker still has his peak years ahead of him which the Gunners could look to utilise in the coming years. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Forsberg and whether he ends up making a move to the Emirates Stadium in the near future.
