Arsenal, who are on a downward spiral in the last few years, especially in the Premier League, are rumoured to be looking for a replacement for Arsene Wenger. Wenger though still has a year left on his contract and it is expected that he will see it out.
The fans from the past few years have been really critical of the Frenchman. Arsenal as a club has seen their stock go down in the last decade or so as they are falling behind their rivals. The fans have been discontent on the back of recent results and in the past few games at Emirates, there were visibly empty seats. Arsenal are pretty much sure to miss out on the coveted Champions League spot as they are off the pace of their rivals.
Recent reports suggest that Arsenal are looking for suitors for their managerial position. One of the names, which have popped up is of Nice’s coach Lucien Favre. Favre has previously managed in the Swiss league and the Bundesliga. He joined the French side Nice in 2016 and before that he used to ply his trade in Germany where he managed Borussia Mönchengladbach for four years.
Arsenal’s current season hinges on how they will do in the Europa league. They are pretty much certain to go through the semi-finals after their first leg demolition of the Russian side CSKA Moscow. Arsenal then can face much-fancied opponents like RB Leipzig or Atletico Madrid as they are also expected to go through the next round.
Arsene Wenger has certainly lost backing even from his faithful as Arsenal have failed to mount any challenge in the Premier League. This season they reached the Carabao Cup final but meekly surrendered to Manchester City. Arsenal are currently facing issues in the midfield and defence. Even the experienced and usually safe Petr Cech has been poor this season for the Gunners. They have a set of talented players in the offensive half of the pitch and with a right man coming in, he can make this team much better than what they are currently.

Favre is an attacking minded manager who makes his team play a possession-based football. He has had success in his career and managed to win Swiss super league and two domestic cups with Zurich. But the Premier League could be a different ball game for the manager. Arsenal fans would be expecting a manager who has proved his worth with the top clubs but if Favre gets an opportunity he can turn the tide over for the Gunners.
