Liverpool will be travelling to the Hawthorns Stadium for their Premier League fixture against West Brom on Saturday evening. After last weekend’s inspiring win over Manchester United will the Baggies haunt Jurgen Klopp’s men with a similar FA Cup 4th Round result?
It was Albion who got the better of the Reds in that tie and that too at Anfield. Liverpool somehow could not turn back the 3-goal deficit and were embarrassingly knocked out of the competition.
Nothing can be said for certain with the hosts desperate for a relegation escape and Liverpool safely stacked 7 points ahead of Chelsea in the top-four. Discounted by plenty but not by their own fans. West Brom showed a form of resilience that they have been missing throughout the entire season.
Maybe it is too late with the safe zone still 9 points away and only 4 games left to do it. But the hopeful within us will always look towards that sliver of light that makes us fall in love with his game again and again.
The Reds are feeble at the moment with a few of their key players out for the moment. Klopp will generally save all his resources towards the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals but is no mood to hand out an upset just yet.
Here is how Liverpool might lineup on game day.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Loris Karius is the number one choice ahead of Simon Mignolet and there is little doubt that the German will be taken off anytime soon.
Nathaniel Clyne might still be recovering from that ankle injury and Trent Alexander Arnold will have to resume his duties on the right-back position.
Andrew Robertson has been the star performer on the left but he might be given a breather in anticipation of the Wednesday night tie. Alberto Moreno to start in the 24-year-old’s place.
Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren are predicted starters in the centre-back roles.
Midfield
James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum should get the nod ahead of Jordan Henderson for the holding midfield role while Emre Can recovers from his back problems.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will partner up with the rest to drive the Reds attack.
Attack
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane might just be the uncontested starters for this tie and the rest of the season but Dominic Solanke is expected to take up the number nine role.
Danny Ings might make an appearance from the bench.
