Tottenham Hotspur will take on Watford in the Monday night clash at Wembley. Watford have been dismal lately as they have picked up just two points in their last six games. However, even with such a bad run of form, they are expected to survive in the Premier League as they are sitting on the 13th spot.
Spurs are coming on the back of some poor results themselves as they lost the all-important FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United. Now with no silverware to play for, Spurs will be hoping to finish their season strongly. The race for the 4th spot has heated up as both Liverpool and Tottenham have dropped points and Chelsea are in with an outside chance for finishing in the top 4.
One often sees with the teams whose survival are pretty much secured, they lose their way in the last few games and that seems to be the case with the Hornets as they haven’t got much to play for and have been lacklustre in their last few games. They started the season brilliantly and were in the top half of the table for the most part. An away tie against Spurs is surely not going to be easy but an upset can certainly make the race for top 4 more interesting.
Troy Deeney is out of the game after he injured himself against Crystal Palace. Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu continue to be long-term absentees.
Here is how the Hornets will most likely line up.
Formation(4-2-3-1)
Defence:
Former Spurs player Heurelho Gomes is not expected to feature in goal as Javi Garcia has preferred Orestis Karnezis. He will be shielded by the back four of Mariappa, Cathcart, Kabasele and Jose Holebas. Holebas is back from his injury and will be expected to start after he missed the previous game.
Midfield:
Abdoulaye Doucouré and Ettiene Capoue will be expected to start in the centre of the pitch. Doucoure has been instrumental this season for Watford as he has popped in with some crucial goals from the central midfield position. He has kept it solid and has done well in the creative department as well. Pereyra and Femenia will be expected to start from left and right of midfield respectively. Brazillian Richarlison is expected to don the role of a no.10, playing behind the striker.
Attack:
With club captain Troy Deeney being injured, Andre Gray will be expected to lead the line for the Hornets in his absence.
