Rangers captain Lee Wallace and club legend Kenny Miller have reportedly been suspended by the club. It would seem that the loss to Celtic was taken rather badly by the club with the players losing their cool within the club. It has been reported that the pair turned on manager Graeme Murty, which has resulted in the duo getting suspended eventually.
The statement says Rangers are looking into a “team-related incident”. The Ibrox club also say they will “make no further comment until this investigation has been completed”.
The players have not just been suspended but have been told to stay away from Ibrox and Rangers in general until further notice. It would seem rather tragic as Miller had been axed by former manager Pedro Caixinha but was brought back by Murty again.
As for Wallace, it seems that although he has a year left on his contract, he might have played his last game for the club unless the club decide to forgive him.
Speaking immediately after Sunday game, Murty stated that the dressing-room had been “emotional”.
“There was anger, frustration, all the sorts of emotion you would expect from a changing room that has just gone through that,” he said.
“There should be frustration and anger. It is just about turning that into positives and energy to power you through to the end of the season rather than allow it to be disruptive.”
This would mean that Rangers now need three players to replace him and here is who they can be looking at.
Patrice Evra
The former Manchester United player was a free agent this season until he was snapped up by West Ham United. His contract with the Hammers is set to expire this season’s end meaning he will once again be free to sign up. He could be a player who could bring in a wealth of experience to the club should they go along with him.
Kenedy
The Chelsea star failed to shine at the club but his loan move to Newcastle United has seen him rise to the occasion. Chelsea already have Musonda on loan at Scotland and could do Rangers a favour by sending along Kenedy there should the Ibrox club make a bid for him.
Joe Bryan
What better way to get on the newspaper than by being the man of the match against Manchester United. That is exactly what the fullback did for Bristol City and even otherwise he has been in great form and could be targeted by Rangers.
