Is Alvaro Morata’s Chelsea career over? The Spaniard has been a misfit with the Blues ever since he went down to an injury early in September. Real Madrid seems to be sympathetic to the Spaniard’s Premier League nightmares and might agree to take him back next summer.
Karim Benzema has struggled to get off the mark as well for the Galacticos and not having Morata as the second option seems to be causing them a lot of discomforts. Zinedine Zidane’s side are way off the La Liga title race and are resting all their hopes of the Champions League for seasonal glory.
Obviously, come summer both sides will contemplating over bringing in able replacements and this transfer can prove to be lucrative for either of them. Morata was already in red-hot form coming into the Premier League with 20 goals in 43 games for the La Liga giants. He managed to score 7 goals in his first 3 weeks with the Blues but the tally has progressed to just 13 for the season.
He did manage to score one in Chelsea 1-3 weekend loss to Tottenham Hotspur and might just be in the starting lineup for the remainder of the season, if healthy. However, if things fail to improve in the next 7 league games and the FA Cup he might as well be on his way out of the Stamford Bridge along with Antonio Conte.
If he does leave, here a few names Chelsea should consider ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Mauro Icardi
The Inter Milan man is having a standout season in Italy’s top-flight and is drawing heavy attention from Real Madrid. He has scored 24 in the season’s 27 games for the Black and Blues.
A prolific talent with immense skill on the ball could be Chelsea’s answer to the Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane next season. Madrid are looking for bigger fishes in the European talent pool and Roman Abramovich and his team can get their hands on the Argentine number.
Robert Lewandowski
The Bayern Munich forward has been at the heart of heavy speculation for the past month and is drawing a lot of attention from Premier League outfits. It is understood that the Polish man would like a different challenge at this point in his career and where else to go than England’s crowned defending champions (although not for long).
Karim Benzema
He might just already be out of the Real Madrid team after enduring a troublesome season in front of the goal. The Frenchman looks to be unsettled with the Los Blancos and it would be easier to carve out an exchange deal for both parties.
