Southampton has spiralled down this season as they are in a relegation battle and many are expecting them to be relegated. They currently sit on 18th 5 points off the 17th placed Huddersfield. They could have made a huge move to get themselves out from the relegation spot this weekend when they ran into a 2-0 lead against Chelsea but the Blues made a comeback on the back of Giroud’s two goals and secured a 3-2 win.
Southampton were once challenging for European spots and were a steady top half club. This season certainly hasn’t gone to plan for them. They have lost a series of players over the years but somehow they have managed to cope with it in the last few years. But it seems now that it has caught up with them as they are on the brink of relegation with just 5 games to play.
Southampton have struggled for goals this season and also have failed to keep it tight at the back. They could also lose out on a host of players as players would like to play for a top division side. Some tough times are certainly ahead for the club. In all this, they happen to find themselves in an FA Cup semifinal where they will face Chelsea. At current form, it seems certainly hard for them to go all the way in the Cup but one never knows as Wigan once went on to win the FA Cup in a season where they were relegated.
Let’s take a look at three players which Southampton should go for if they are relegated
Iheanacho
Southampton have struggled for goals this season as the likes of Gabbiadini and Shane Long have been poor. Charlie Austin has provided them with goals but he has been injured often and in his absence, Southampton haven’t looked like scoring. Iheanacho will be a good option as he has a natural poachers instinct and will be willing to move as he has struggled for starts at Leicester.
Luke Shaw
Shaw can reunite with his former club as has had a horrible time at Manchester United. With Bertrand expected to leave this summer, it can be good options for both as Shaw will be looking to revive his career.

The young Danish player is being touted as the next Christian Eriksen. Currently, he is with the Danish side Nordsjaelland and has done well for them especially on the creative front. Southampton’s problem this summer has been scoring goals and Jensen certainly has the ability to pull the strings in the midfield and create scoring opportunities for his strikers.
