Liverpool could be dealt a big blow as the summer transfer window approaches as their target Thomas Lemar, could be swooped up by their rivals Manchester City. Liverpool got a huge sum for selling Coutinho and they didn’t reinvest that in the January transfer window and it was expected that they will go hard at their targets in the summer. According to reports, Pep Guardiola has been following his performance in the French League and if a club like Manchester City, backed by their financial power, decides on having their man Liverpool will be sure to miss out on him.
Liverpool has done well since the departure of Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona but the current team is thin on the backup options especially in the attacking front. With Lallana being out for the season, Liverpool will be hoping to keep their front trio of Mane, Salah and Firmino fit for all the major games including the upcoming Champions League Semi-Final. Lemar was also a target for the Gunners but with Ozil signing a new contract and Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang coming in, the Gunners have lowered their interest in the Frenchman.
Lemar like all modern attackers is adept at playing in various positions upfront. Though he is at his best when he plays from the left. He is a technically gifted player and has lit up the Ligue 1 with his performances for Monaco. He will certainly be a good addition to any Premier League side.
With Manchester City coming into the picture Liverpool can miss out on their target so we look at three replacements Liverpool can go after-
James Rodriguez- Rodriguez lit up the scene in the last World Cup where he represented Columbia. He joined the Galacticos but couldn’t find regular playing time ahead of Bale and Isco. As a result, he was loaned to Bayern Munich. He has managed to do well for the Bundesliga outfit as he has managed to score 6 and assist 11 times this season. He will be a good fit for Liverpool as they are looking to spend some money to replace the void left by Coutinho.
Riyad Mahrez- Mahrez is a proven player in the Premier League and has been the main man for Leicester for quite a few seasons now. He was close to leaving Leicester in the January transfer window but somehow he stayed with the Foxes until the end of the season. It is expected that he will look for a way out at the end of the season and Liverpool can snap him up.
