Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale in the summer. According to recent reports, the Welsh wizard is keen on making a return back to North London when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the Galacticos star is eager to make a move back to Spurs and not, Manchester United, who are eager to secure his services this summer.
Some sources are now claiming that Bale could be used by Los Blancos as part of a deal to bring Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane to the Spanish capital. Bale has put in some match-winning displays for the reigning European champions during the course of this season but has been a sporadic feature under Zinedine Zidane this year. Hence, the Welsh international could decide to switch clubs in search of more first-team opportunities in the next campaign.
Bale has featured in 33 matches for Real Madrid this season, scoring 14 goals and grabbing 8 assists in all competitions. Pochettino could be on the lookout for some new attacking options this summer and the return of Gareth Bale will fit the bill perfectly.
Pochettino’s Spurs side are currently in the 4th spot in the Premier League standings with a tally of 68 points in 34 league games. The Argentine manager is preparing his team for a season-defining clash versus Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday. He needs to make a few quality acquisitions in the summer to try and mount a realistic title challenge next season.
The potential coup of Bale will undoubtedly bolster Pochettino’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. The North London outfit have an array of talented wide men in their ranks such as Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Moussa Sissoko, Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen vying for a place in the Spurs first-team. The possible summer addition of Gareth Bale will definitely add more competition for places in their squad.
