Wolves are being strongly linked with a move for Besiktas midfielder Anderson Talisca ahead of the summer transfer window. According to recent reports, the Skybet Championship leaders are keeping tabs on the player who has impressed with some dazzling displays in Turkey this season. However, the West Midlands outfit could face stiff competition from Manchester United in pursuit of the 24-year-old’s signature.
Talisca is currently on loan at Besiktas from Benfica but it seems that the move will be made permanent next summer. Some sources have already claimed that the Wolves have shown a strong interest in recruiting him but recent reports suggest that the Red Devils are leading the chase to sign him. United are prepared to dish out £35m for his services and talks are currently ongoing between Benfica and the Manchester club over a possible transfer in the near future. It is understood that United boss Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the midfielder ever since his days at Chelsea and looks set to finally get his man.
It remains to be seen whether the Wolves are willing to go on a bidding war with United over the Brazilian midfield enforcer. The 24-year-old has made 37 appearances for Besiktas this season and has scored 16 goals while providing 4 assists so far in all competitions.
Wolves are currently leading the Championship by 3 points with a tally of 79 points in 37 matches. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side has recently fallen off the pace in the second tier of English football but are still on the driver’s seat to earn a promotion back to the Premier League at the end of the current campaign. Second-placed Cardiff City are hot on their heels and could mount a late push for the league title which means that Santo’s side will have to finish the campaign strong if they are to bag the Skybet Championship title.
The addition of Talisca will undoubtedly boost Santo’s midfield options going into the new campaign as they look to cope with life in the Premier League. However, they might not be able to financially compete with Manchester United in the transfer market which indicates that their chances of landing the player are slim.
At 24, Talisca still has his peak years ahead of him which the Wolves could look to utilise in the coming years. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the Brazilian midfielder and whether he ends up making a switch to English football in search of more challenging adventures.
