Chelsea fans are enjoying a long and suffering season at West London this year. The club showed great signs of promise when they appointed head boss Antonio Conte in the summer of 2016. The Italian had just taken over a team that had finished 10th in the league and transformed them within months into a winning machine.
Everyone kept watching as Conte’s men marched to the title, their second in the last four seasons. Chelsea’s drastic drop this season has once again alerted fans to an alarming trend at the club. The Blues win, they slack off, they lose, they refocus, and they win.
Amidst this unbalanced nature of playing, players and managers have come and gone. Star players are never going to stay at a club suffering from so much instability and hence Chelsea will have to hold on to their faithful.
In Willian, the Blues have a dynamite winger who has given joy to every fan at the club. In a recent report, it was stated that the player might be a target for former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho who wants to add Willian to his excellent attacking roster at United.
The winger has been linked with a move to AC Milan recently. Willian however, has come out and said that he wishes to stay at the club. This is what the Brazilian had to say.
“My goal is to stay here at Chelsea. Unless Chelsea does not want me anymore – then I’d have to find another club. I want to stay here for many more years, if it is possible, to renew my contract. On that, we have not talked yet. It might happen. I’m adapted here. I will have been here five years at the end of the season, I’ve won titles. I think I have the affection of the fans too.”
“I intend to continue here until the end of my contract, to renew, and to continue for more years. To be honest, today I have no thought of returning to Brazil or even ending my career in Brazil. My goal is to stay here and, if possible, finish here as well.”
The winger began the season in a slow fashion but has picked up the pace in the last couple of months. He has been the club’s best player by far this year and has helped the Blues in the big matches including the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Barcelona where he was the star man overshadowing Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard.
Chelsea will want to keep their man who has given the club so much and more often than not it is Willian who shows his best game whenever the Blues are failing to deliver.
