West Ham United have tabled an official bid to secure the services of Galatasaray wide man Garry Rodrigues. According to recent reports, the Hammers have made a bid in the region of €12m for the Cape Verde international. However, the Turkish giants consider the offer too low and are holding out for a fee around €16m, which is what they received from Stoke City for Badou Ndiaye in January.
Galatasaray could be willing to part ways with their winger Garry Rodrigues in the summer which will come as a big boost for the Hammers after the club’s recent interest in the player. Some sources are claiming that the Turkish giants are ready to sanction a deal for the 27-year-old midfielder when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season with the East London outfit ready to pounce on his signature.
The Turkish club are currently going through some financial troubles which could make David Moyes’ side come back in with another bid for Rodrigues’ services in this off-season. The Cape Verde winger has been in sensational form for Gala this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 9 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. He will undoubtedly bolster Moyes’ attacking options ahead of the new campaign if they manage to snap him up this summer.
The East Londoners are currently occupying 17th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 30 points in 30 league matches. David Moyes’ team still finds themselves just two points above the drop zone and are in real danger of suffering the agony of being relegated to the English Championship at the end of the season. They are in dire need to bring in some new faces during the summer transfer period in their quest to push on and improve their league performance in the next campaign.
The potential addition of Rodrigues will add more competition for places in the Hammers midfield ahead of the new season and might help them close the gap to the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ in the coming years. Rodrigues is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the frontline. He can play on either wing or as a striker up top which makes him an ideal asset for any of his potential suitors.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the 27-year-old winger and whether West Ham United are successful in luring him to the London Stadium next summer.
