Tottenham Hotspur managed to sneak over Liverpool in the PL points table with an easy victory at Vitality Stadium this weekend as Mauricio Pochettino’s men put four past Bournemouth on Sunday. Junior Stanislas, who hit the bar early in the game, gave the Cherries a lead in the 7th minute of the game but the hosts failed to keep up and went into the break 1-1 after Dele Alli equalized just after the half-hour mark.
That was after Harry Kane picked up an injury, that looks like it could keep him out of the game for at least a month. Heung Min-Son bagged a brace as Serge Aurier added another late on the night as Spurs stole all three points, for the first time in a game they were down by a goal this season. They are now a point above Liverpool in the 3rd place and here are the player ratings for the visitors in this tie:
Hugo Lloris (6):
Had a couple of half saves to make but was a rather easy afternoon for the French star.
Serge Aurier (6):
Was wayward with his crossing all night but his cross allowed Alli to open the scoring. Also headed in late in the game to pick up a goal for himself.
Davinson Sanchez (5):
Was struggling to keep up with Bournemouth’s attacks till Spurs took the lead but was solid when they needed to see off the threat.
Jan Vertonghen (6):
Stuck to his task well and helped Spurs stay on top of the game for most of the night.
Danny Rose (5):
Was inventive with his passing and crossing but lost the ball far too many times in the first half.
Victor Wanyma (6):
Added mettle to Spurs’ midfield as he helped see off the little threat Bournemouth had left in them in the second half.
Mousa Dembele (5):
A quiet afternoon for the Belgian, who was not afforded any space or time on the ball in the midfield.
Christian Eriksen (7):
Wandered all over the pitch, picking up the ball deep and asserting himself on the game, troubling Bournemouth all night. Picked up the assist for Son’s second.
Dele Alli (7):
Slowly finding his feet, Alli not only opened the scoring with a determined finish but also set up Son’s first goal on a night where he was constantly booed by the fans.
Heung Min-Son (8):
Took up the responsibility of finding the back of the net in Kane’s absence. Was smart with his first finish, cool with his second as he handed his side all three points.
Harry Kane (N/A):
Picked up an injury in a clash with Begovic and headed straight down the tunnel. Will be gutted as he could have added goals to his tally.
Substitutes:
Erik Lamela (7):
Was pro-active all night, ready to get on the ball and take on the Bournemouth defenders.
Kieran Trippier (6):
A superb cross in the build-up to Aurier’s goal was his best contribution of the night.
Moussa Sissoko (N/A)
