Juventus ended another thrilling night of European football by beating English side Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. Spurs had taken the advantage home last time by drawing 2-2 away at Turin and were in charge in the first half here as well. They took a well-deserved lead with Son putting them 1-0 up on the night.
However, things unravelled rather fast for Spurs and in a very anti-climactic fashion. The Tottenham players lost their calm when Higuain put Juventus on par tonight with a tap-in in the 64th minute. Spurs lost their pace and power and in the next 3 minutes, Dybala had tapped finished off the north London side with a calm finish in a one-on-one situation.
Here is how the players performed on the night and their ratings out of 10.
Hugo Lloris: 6
A quiet night from the Tottenham Hotspur captain. The Frenchman could not do anything about either goal as his defence let him down on both occasions.
Kieran Trippier: 6
Was an excellent attacking outlet and a bundle of energy. Kept moving up and down. However, seemed paralysed while Juventus scored the second goal and was not even running back to organise the defence on that occasion.
Davinson Sanchez: 5.5
Kept Higuain quiet and away from the match. However let his man through on two occasions. Higuain scored one and assisted the other.
Jan Vertonghen: 4.5
Lucky not to have conceded a penalty. Silly defending against Douglas Costa. Failed to marshal his defence.
Ben Davies: 5
Excellent display of attack while running down the flanks. Not so good in defence.
Mousa Dembele: 7
The Belgian midfield genius was once again untouchable. He will be upset his defence could not do well. He was at the heart of every midfield battle and won most of them
Eric Dier: 5
Not the Englishman’s best night. He was missing on occasions and sprayed too many passes.
Heung-Min Son: 7.5
One of Spurs’ better players and scored their only goal of the night as well. He was a constant threat throughout the match.
Dele Alli: 6
A performance full of style and flamboyance and exuberance but lacking in end product.
Christian Eriksen: 7
He was trying to initiate attacks but was caught alone too often in the second half and failed to strike a link up with his forwards.
Harry Kane: 7
He was excellent against Chiellini in the first half and played well throughout.
