Tottenham Hotspur progress to the semi-final stage of the FA Cup after the comfortable 0-3 win over Swansea City tonight.
The Swans struggled to get out of their own half with the visitors controlling majority of the possession.
The entire City defence failed to close down Christian Eriksen who picked up momentum while on the run and dispatched a powerful shot with his left. 0-1
The best effort for the hosts came within minutes of the start of the second half.
Martin Olsson’s struck a thumping effort towards the far post which forced to put a strong right arm to it. Tammy Abraham caught the rebound and Vorm did brilliantly to clear the goal for the second time.
Tottenham caught them on the counter and Eric Lamela took on 4 of the Swansea defenders to find the back of net from a curled in shot off his weaker right. Kristoffer Nordfeldt was caught rooted to the spot. 0-2
Eriksen got his second in the 62nd minute as Lucas laid him off at the edge of the penalty box. 0-3
Match set and done.
Here is how the Tottenham Players were rated on the night.
Kevin Vorm – 7/10
Made a brilliant double save from Olson’s shot and Tammy Abraham’s rebounded header.
Kevin Trippier – 7/10
A willing runner on the right but not majorly impactful on the offensive end.
Jan Vertonghen – 7/10
Another solid shift by the Belgian international. Looked comfortable with the ball and commanded the backline throughout the 90.
Davinson Sanchez – 7/10
Usual work day for Sanchez. Abraham looked to be a handful in the early minutes but was nullified by the lack of service.
Ben Davies – 7/10
He was well tested against the pacey Eric Dier and Narsingh but maintained his poise and was disciplined at the back. Delivered a couple of quality balls into the penalty box.
Eric Dier – 7/10
He had a wonderful attempt on goal from long range and did not allow Clucas an inch of space in the Tottenham half.
Moussa Sissoko – 6/10
Clumsy on a few occasions but overall satisfactory in his newly appointed holding midfield role. Won the midfield battles and passed the ball out of tight situations.
Lucas Moura – 6/10
Very energetic on the run but still rusty from his long stint on the PSG benches.
Erik Lamela – 8/10
The Argentine put on a show tonight with remarkably quick footwork. He took on the Swansea defenders at will and worked out a goal out of nothing.
Christian Eriksen – 9/10
A near-perfect display by the 25-year-old and quite deserving of the MOTM medal. He bossed the game right from the opening whistle and had three shots from distance – 2 of the goals and the third knocked away by the woodwork.
Son Heung-min – 6/10
Had two goals ruled out for offside. He looked a bit frustrated with the limited touches he had on the ball.
