Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring FC Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, Amadou Haidara who has caught the eye of money with his impressive bouts in the UEFA Europa League. While the Spurs got knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus, Haidara helped his team progress to the Quarters.
The 20-year-old has been at the heart of the Austrian outfit for the majority of the season with 42 total appearances under his belt. He has scored 5 and assisted 3 while pulling off incredible feats around the centre circle.
Haidara has appeared in 5 games for the Mali U17 side and made his debut for the senior team against Ivory Coast. He is viewed as the next big start in European football and Mauricio Pochettino wants to snap him up before the drastic surge in value.
The Argentine manager is known to develop young talents in the Tottenham team by giving them favourable opportunities in the first team. The North London side currently fields one of the youngest teams in the Premier League with Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Dembele and Fernando Llorente as the squad veterans.
Spurs have improved upon their midtable club status over the past few seasons and have risen to the occasion of challenging for the title. They currently sit in the 4th spot of the points table and the team is slowly chipping their way towards major club honours.
Their Champions League performances have been impressive this season, right until the second leg of the Round of 16 tie against Juventus. They, unfortunately, fell to the experience of the previous year runners-up and somehow managed to lose the tie within just 5 minutes of poor decision making.
Pochettino has been met with quite a few problems this season, which needs to be addressed ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, one of it being their squad depth, whose increment is highly necessary to compete against elite teams in multiple competitions.
The Premier League in itself poses a serious threat to any English team’s chances of making a major breakthrough in the continental stage. Then on the top of that, domestic cups in the form of FA Cup and Carabo Cup are always there as the secondary options for silverware.
Haidara can be the man to answer Tottenham’s problems next season with Harry Winks struggling to make his mark in the senior side. Currently, Moussa Dembele holds the baton of the leading the holding midfielder alongside Victor Wanyama who is still making his way from injury. Eric Dier might have impressed as a versatile presence but he still needs to provide more offensively.
