In what is one of the most bizarre transfer rumours of the year so far, Spanish new outfit GOLdigital claim that European Champions Real Madrid have taken a step closer to landing former Barcelona winger Neymar Jr this summer.
The Brazilian ace only joined French giants PSG in a mouthwatering, record-breaking €222m at the start of the current season but that did not see the club avoid getting knocked out of the Champions League early this season, yet again. PSG will probably lift the Ligue 1 title but there have been several reports claiming that Neymar is already looking for a move back to Spain.
However, most of those reports link him with a move to Madrid rather than Catalonia. And GOLdigital have taken this story a step further and have today claimed that PSG are willing to negotiate a deal for Neymar in the summer transfer window.
It was previously reported that Real could use Cristiano Ronaldo as a part of the deal to land Neymar but the latest story now claims that PSG are willing to listen to any offers, that might involve French technician Zinedine Zidane, moving to Paris as a part of the deal.
The story claims that Real are already looking to replace Zidane at the end of the season and are also planning a massive squad overhaul and Neymar could be a part of this change at Bernabeu.
At just 26, Neymar is easily in the top-5 players in Europe at the moment and has amassed insane numbers with PSG, picking up 26 goals and 16 assists in just 30 starts for the club. He is the talisman of the side and is an important part of the club, which is ready to give in to most of his demands. But like we have seen this season, PSG are still quite a distance away from turning into serious European giants which might see Neymar open for a move away from the French capital.
However, till Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is at the top of his game with Los Blancos, Neymar, if moves to Madrid, might spend another year or two in Ronaldo’s shadow, which will not go down well with him.
So it is clear that Real have to sell Ronaldo before they can target Neymar. The financial part of the deal should not be an issue and the fact that Real were anyway looking to get rid of Zidane, makes this deal all the more sweet for the club.
Neymar is one of the very few players who can replace Ronaldo in the first team at the club and if they can convince Neymar to play alongside Ronaldo for a couple of seasons, they might be on their way to breaking some records.
