Real Madrid are plotting a move for Zorya Luhansk goalkeeper Andriy Lunin next summer. According to recent reports, Los Blancos are prepared to battle it out with Inter Milan, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus in pursuit of the Ukranian talent when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the campaign. The 19-year-old starlet is currently playing for Zorya Luhansk in the Ukranian league where he has put in some dazzling displays during the course of this season.
Lunin had to settle for a place on the bench towards the early parts of this campaign but soon broke into their first-team and has since put in some eye-catching performances in goal for the Ukranian team which has alerted some of Europe’s elite clubs which include Real Madrid. The Luhansk wonder-kid has also earned an international cap for the Ukranian national team recently when he started in goal against Saudi Arabia after playing in just 3 matches for his country’s Under-21 side.
It is understood that Lunin’s market price is in the region of €6m as teams from all across Europe are set to battle it out in pursuit of his signature this summer. The Ukrainian starlet came through the youth ranks of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’ before making a switch to Zorya Luhansk last summer. It remains to be seen whether he can continue with his progression and become one of Europe’s best keepers in the coming years.
The Galacticos are currently occupying 3rd place in the La Liga standings, a massive 15 points behind their rivals and league leaders Barcelona. Zinedine Zidane’s side are in dire need of reinforcements in the summer as they look to bridge the gap between themselves and Barca next season.
The addition of Lunin will undoubtedly bolster Zinedine Zidane’s goalkeeping options at the club which can help them mount a realistic title challenge next term. At 19, he still has a lot of years to grow and develop his game in his quest to fulfil his potential. Lunin has made 28 appearances for Zorya Luhansk this season, shipping in 38 goals while keeping 9 clean sheets in all competitions.
The Galacticos has the likes of Keylor Navas, Kiko Casilla and Luca Zidane vying for a place on Zinedine Zidane’s first-team. However, Navas is still Los Blancos’ number one keeper yet, he always has an occasional mistake in him which is a cause for concern for Madrid fans. Hence, the potential signing of Lunin could help the club develop a keeper for the future. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Lunin and whether he ends up making a switch to the Spanish capital.
