Manchester United are interested in securing the services of Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose next summer. According to recent reports, the English full-back is gathering the attention of the Red Devils and could be in line to make a switch out of North London at the end of the season. The 27-year-old left-back has started just 11 matches for Spurs this season and has fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino due to the impressive form of Ben Davies.
It is believed that Rose fancies a switch to Old Trafford and could be in line to make a move this summer in search of greener pastures. The Manchester outfit were also interested in the England international’s services last summer but a deal failed to materialise as he was recovering from a serious knee injury coupled with the fact that Spurs had already lost one of their full-backs in Kyle Walker to Manchester City, they were reluctant to do business.
The 27-year-old complained about the Spurs’ wage structure earlier this season and admitted that he was considering a transfer away from North London. He has made 12 appearances for Spurs this season across all competitions so far.
The Mancunians are currently occupying the second position in the league standings with a tally of 65 points in 30 top-flight matches. In any other era, Jose Mourinho’s United side would be well in contention of winning the league but the majestic form of Pep Guardiola’s Blues has seen them fall behind in the title race. The Citizens of Manchester are cruising in the Premier League by a massive 13 point advantage with the Red Devils desperately trying to play catch up with their arch-rivals.
The addition of Rose will undoubtedly bolster Jose Mourinho’s defensive options and could go a long way in helping them bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City in the coming years. He is versatile and can play anywhere down the left flank. At 27, he still has his peak years ahead of him which United could look to utilise as they try to mount a title challenge next season.
Rose has a wealth of Premier League experience and would be a perfect fit for Jose Mourinho’s United if he can stay fit and overcome his recent injury troubles. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the 27-year-old midfielder and whether United are able to convince Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with their prized asset.
