For the second time in less than five days, Manchester City put three past Petr Cech on Arsenal’s goal, as they moved 16 points clear of Manchester United at the top of the points table, after their 3-0 victory at the Emirates this week. The Gunners started off well but a sublime goal from Bernardo Silva burst their bubble early in the first half.
David Silva and Leroy Sane soon added to the scoreline as Wenger’s side conceded three goals in the first half at Emirates for the first time in the Premier League. Ederson saved a penalty in the second half to keep his clean sheet as City move to within five more wins of the league title. Here are the player ratings for Pep Guardiola’s men, who put on yet another commanding display:
Manchester City Players Rated And Slated
Ederson (7):
Quick to sniff out danger and a couple of smart saves to hold on to a well deserved clean sheet.
Kyle Walker (7):
Picked up the assist for Sane’s goal and never gave Arsenal a chance to attack from his flank in a convincing display.
Vincent Kompany (8):
Got the better of Aubameyang and never allowed Arsenal any space or time on the ball, helping his side to an easy win.
Nicolas Otamendi (5):
Gave away a penalty and was lucky not to be sent off for a second yellow on a night where he struggled uncharacteristically.
Danilo (7):
Was a willing runner in the attack as he played a role and added numbers in the final third, keeping Arsenal under pressure.
Ilkay Gundogan (6):
Let Arsenal through on to his backline far too easily but worked well in transition play, always keeping City on the front foot.
David Silva (8):
Splendid footwork to score City’s second and was constantly looking for balls to open Arsenal’s defence. Won the midfield battle with ease.
Kevin de Bruyne (6):
Not his usual self on the ball but was industrious without it as he added to the flair and the convincing performance from the visitors.
Bernardo Silva (8):
Opened the scoring with an astounding goal that Cech could do nothing about. His skill and movement on the flank were too much to handle for the Arsenal defenders.
Sergio Aguero (7):
Unlucky not to get a goal but picked up the assist for Silva’s goal and did well to keep Arsenal’s backline under pressure for most of the game.
Leroy Sane (9):
Probably City’s most influential player on the night, Sane was too hot to handle for the hosts, as he helped himself to a goal and an assist and his side to all three points.
Substitutes:
Oleksandr Zinchenko (6):
Came on for Walker and never gave Arsenal a sniff on the flank, settling in well into the system at City.
Yaya Toure (N/A)
Gabriel Jesus (N/A)
