Liverpool are being linked with a move for Besiktas midfielder Anderson Talisca this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are keeping tabs on the player who has impressed with some dazzling displays in Turkey this season. However, the Anfield based outfit could face stiff competition from Manchester United in pursuit of the 24-year-old’s signature.
Talisca is currently on loan at Besiktas from Benfica but it seems that the move will be made permanent next summer. Some sources have already claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen on recruiting him but will face tough competition from their rivals Manchester United in the race for his signature. United are ready to cough up £35m for his services and talks are currently ongoing between Benfica and the Manchester club over a possible transfer when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season. It is believed that United boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the midfielder’s talents ever since his days at Chelsea and looks set to finally get his man this summer.
It has been reported recently that the Reds are willing to hijack United’s approach in the race to secure the 24-year-old’s signature. Talisca has featured in 38 appearances for Besiktas this season and has scored 16 goals while providing 4 assists so far in all competitions.
The Merseysiders are currently occupying the 3rd place in the top-flight table after their emphatic 5-0 victory over Watford last weekend. Liverpool finds themselves with a two-point advantage over Spurs, who are sitting in fourth place right now. However, the Reds of Merseyside are a massive 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City going into the business end of the season.
The addition of Talisca will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options at the club which can help them bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester clubs in the coming years. At 24, Talisca still has his peak years ahead of him which Liverpool could look to utilise in the near future. He is also highly versatile and can play in a number of different positions in midfield. The Brazilian primarily operates in the number 10 position but can also be used as a secondary striker or in central midfield which makes him a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the Brazilian midfielder and whether he ends up making a switch to the Premier League in search of more challenging adventures.
