Liverpool are interested in securing the services of Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi next summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are ready to make a move for the Egypt international when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
The Merseyside outfit already has one Egyptian in their first-team in the form of Mohamed Salah, who has been in sensational form this season scoring 28 goals in 30 league matches. Some sources are now claiming that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to add another Egyptian star to his squad in Sobhi this summer after Salah gave a glowing recommendation about his fellow international teammate to Klopp and his coaching staff.
It is believed that Liverpool scouts are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old’s development at the Bet365 Stadium and has caught him in action a number of times in recent weeks. Sobhi signed for Stoke City in the summer of 2016 from Al-Ahli for a fee in the region of £5m. However, it is expected that the Potters will demand a fee around £15m for their prized asset.
The Reds are also hoping that Sobhi’s arrival would keep their star man Mohamed Salah happy at Merseyside amidst interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs which include Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to fend off any of his potential suitors and retain Salah’s services for years to come.
The Reds are currently lying in the 3rd position in the Premier League standings after their outstanding 5-0 demolition of Watford on Saturday in which Salah scored four goals and grabbed one assist.
However, the Merseysiders are a staggering 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City going into the business end of the season. The addition of Sobhi will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options next season. Liverpool have the likes of Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana vying for a place in the left side of midfield so Sobhi’s potential signing will definitely add more competition for places in the Reds squad.
Sobhi has featured in 23 matches for the Reds this season, scoring 4 goals and providing one assist across all competitions. At 21, Sobhi has immense potential which the Merseysiders could look to utilise in the coming years as they hope to build for a bigger and brighter future under Jurgen Klopp. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Sobhi and whether he ends up making a switch to Anfield in the near future.
