Leicester City paid the highest price for two defensive errors in a match they should have gotten more out of. The Foxes came into the fixture in good form and were good in attack. They were fluent and fluid and could have scored more than one goal had their play in the final third been better.
They trailed to a first-half Alvaro Morata goal when they were hit on the counter. Unluckily for them, the ball fell to Willian who brilliantly dribbled past a handful of defenders and ran about 40 yards with it before teeing up Morata. The Spaniard made a smart run down the centre channel and found himself in space and finished off the counter with a smart goal.
Leicester came out dominant in the second half and were justifiably rewarded with a goal. It was a scrappy goal for Vardy with the Chelsea defence failing to clear their lines and the Englishman as always proving to be the fox in the box.
As the match stretched into extra time, it seemed like neither side would be able to get another goal. However, a defensive error from the Foxes goalkeeper saw Pedro head the ball into an empty net to give Chelsea the lead in the first half of the extra time. Leicester battled on to get a second but to no avail as Chelsea came away with a ticket to Wembley to play in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Here is how the Leicester players performed on the night.
Kasper Schmeichel: 4
Did not have much to do all much thanks to some timid Chelsea attacking. His error cost Leicester the match.
Danny Simpson: 6.5
An energetic performance down the right back channel.
Wes Morgan: 5
Error in his defensive positioning led to Morata running free through the centre to score Chelsea’s first goal.
Harry Maguire: 6.5
An impressive outing and he seems ready to play for England.
Ben Chilwell: 6.5
The young left-back was as impressive as always and was full of energy.
Vicente Iborra: 5
A subdued performance, he was dominated by Kante.
Wilfred Ndidi: 5
Another midfielder who failed to shine thanks to Kante’s amazing performance.
Marc Albrighton: 7
A hard fought performance, he was always on point to make the right decision.
Riyad Mahrez: 8
Back to his best and an incredible performance once again.
Kelechi Iheanacho: 5.5
Failed to make a mark on the game.
Jamie Vardy: 7
He did what he does best, score the goal.

Added a lot of pace and energy when he came on.
