After a series of shambolic results, Leeds United got back to winning ways as they secured a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers at the Elland Road earlier today. Caleb Ekuban gave the hosts an early lead and Pablo Hernandez doubled the same in the early minutes of the second-half.
Although the Wanderers curtailed Leeds United’s lead after Adam Le Fondre’s striker, Paul Heckingbottom’s troops managed to keep their calm and bag all three points. Here is how we rated Leeds United’s players from their win over Bolton Wanderers.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell: 6/10
The Leeds United custodian was rarely tested in the first-half. However, he can hardly be blamed for Adam Le Fondre’s goal. Nonetheless, he dealt well with the crosses, his positional sense was good and distributed the ball well.
Stuart Dallas: 5/10
Dallas was stationed at the right-back and he showed signs of incompatibility at times in the position. He certainly needs to develop more.
Pontus Jansson: 7/10
Jansson was rock-solid at the back and marshalled the back line meticulously. Besides, he was good in the air and during the set-pieces as well.
Matthew Pennington: 7/10
It was an improved display from the Everton loanee as he churned a decent chemistry with Jansson and kept Bolton Wanderers’ attackers at bay more often than not.
Gaetano Berardi: 7/10
Berardi fared well once again and there is no denying that he has been a really good player for the Yorkshire based outfit this season.
Ezgjan Alioski: 8/10
He was industrious, cunning and purposeful throughout the game and he really caused a lot of trouble to the opposition’s defence with his shrewd movements and vision.
Ronaldo Vieira: 8/10
It was a good day on the pitch for Vieira as he jotted stupendous tackles and read the game in an astute manner. Besides, his passing was accurate most of the times.
Eunan O’Kane: 6/10
He showcased a lot of industry in the middle but he lacked the strength and enthusiasm that was needed to pull off productive outputs.
Pablo Hernandez: 9/10
The Spaniard played silky smooth football and operated with notable composure. His technical ability was evident as he seamlessly availed himself as the engine room for his side’s offensive endeavours. He thoroughly deserved the goal that he scored.
Caleb Ekuban: 8/10
Ekuban was another player who dazzled for the Peacocks in the fixture. He took his goal cleanly and set the tone for the game. Besides, he kept manoeuvring quality passes to his teammates and worked really hard up front.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga: 6/10
The German striker was wasteful at times and lacked the pace that was needed today.
Substitutions:
Samuel Saiz: 6/10
Saiz replaced Lasogga and the former might not have engineered anything magical but he kept possession in check and did his basics right.
Jay Roy-Grot: NA
He replaced Alioski late in the second-half and didn’t have much time to make an impact.
