Leeds United hosted Sheffield Wednesday at the Elland Road earlier today but they failed to bag even a single point from the fixture. Atdhe Nuhiu gave the Owls the lead in the second half, which was cancelled by Jay-Roy Grot’s finish from close range.
However, Nuhiu’s strike in the additional minutes handed Jos Luhukay’s side all three points. Here are our Leeds United player ratings from their defeat in their latest Championship fixture.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell 7/10
The custodian made a couple of very good saves to deny Adam Reach from finding the back of the net. Besides, he distributed the ball well and was good at dealing with crosses and set-pieces.
Gaetano Berardi 6/10
Berardi operated with a lot of drive and willingness and frequently went up the pitch to create chances or score himself.
Pontus Jansson 6/10
The centre-back marshalled the back line pretty nicely and showed a lot of resilience. Besides, he galloped forward whenever situations permitted him to.
Matthew Pennington 6/10
Pennington marked Sheffield Wednesday’s attacker consistently in what was a busy day at the office for him.
Tom Pearce 5/10
Peace proved to be the weak-link in the defensive line of the Peacocks. He was guilty of giving the ball away way too often and lacked the pace that was needed from a left-back in the fixture.
Eunan O’Kane 6/10
The midfielder might not have done anything spectacular but he did keep things neat and tidy in the middle of the park. He worked efficiently and is getting back to his best shape.
Adam Forshaw 7/10
Forshaw availed himself as the engine room for Heckingbottom’s side once again. He engineered shrewd passes, broke the attacking endeavours of the opposition time and again and tried to dictate the tempo of the game.
Ezgjan Alioski 6/10
The right-winger was busy tonight as he constantly poses threat to Sheffield Wednesday’s back line with his movements and vision. However, he lacked the cutting edge that was needed.
Pablo Hernandez 8/10
Hernandez was all over the pitch as he created chances, manoeuvred crosses and made some defensive contributions as well. He was arguably the best player for Leeds United today.
Stuart Dallas 5/10
He struggled to blast forward and was caught in two minds more often than not. His attacking prowess was hardly seen.
Caleb Ekuban 4/10
Although the striker roamed tirelessly up front, he couldn’t make the most out of the deliveries he received from his teammates, particularly from Hernandez. He should have been much more clinical.
Substitutions
Pierre-Michel Lasogga 6/10
He came on for Ekuban and played a key role in bagging the equalizer.
Jay-Roy Grot 6/10
Grot substituted Pearce and scored the equalizer from close range.
Kalvin Phillips 5/10
With just over 10 minutes left, Heckingbottom threw Phillips at the expense of O’Kane but he hardly made his presence felt.
