Harry Kane, the wonderkid from Tottenham Hotspur has now become a goal-scoring machine in Europe. The England international has already won two consecutive Golden Boots at the age of 24. Since returning from Leicester City, where he was on loan, at the end of 2013-14 season, Kane has gone on to score over 125 goals in under 180 appearances for club and country winning several individual accolades in the process. The Tottenham man is in dazzling form this season and finished 2017 as the top scorer in Europe beating Messi and Ronaldo to the top. His new season began slowly in August but after scoring 13 goals in the month of September he has not had to look back.
The English striker has been praised by pundits and managers all around the globe with Conte hailing him as the ‘complete striker’, days after Chelsea bought Morata and Pep-Guardiola referring to Tottenham as ‘that Harry Kane team’.
Kane’s overall game allows him to contribute much more than just goals. His strength in the air, off the ball movement, physicality, and the ability to shoot with either foot makes him a daunting prospect. Besides such physical great physical aspects, Kane is seen as one of the leaders of the young Tottenham team and is tipped to take over the armband once Lloris retires.
His ability to express himself and lead by example sets him apart from most other 24-year olds in the game. Kane’s never-say-die attitude reflects well in the Spurs dressing room and his style of play allows Tottenham to pursue their high-pressing game making it look like the entire team gets behind the big, burly fellow to chase down every single ball from the opposition.
The striker who was named in the Ballon d’Or shortlist last year has become the next feature piece of Real Madrid’s star hunt. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been reportedly seeking the star striker to lead the Real Madrid attacking lineup and is reportedly readying a tasteful offer for Tottenham Hotspur.
However, such worries for Spurs are far away with more recent concerns coming with Kane’s injury last week. The English international has been ruled out for six weeks. The news comes at the worst time for Spurs with their manager Mauricio Pochettino trying to harness his team together for the last few rounds of matches so that they can claim a European spot for next season.
Besides Kane, they have only Fernando Llorente as the recognized number 9 and although the Spaniard is a decent backup, he can be hardly expected to lead the line in the last few crucial matches with the same quality as Kane. This would mean Spurs have a battle on their hands with no apparent solution and Pochettino must hope that until Kane recovers, his team can do the bare minimum in every match to collect three points rather than try and play expansive football and risk losing points.
