Antonio Conte’s second season at Chelsea is not going according to plan as after back to back losses to the Manchester clubs, they now look to be struggling to get into the top-4 of the points table. The Italian mastermind may not keep his job beyond the summer transfer window but that has not stopped the club from scouting for players who can help them in the future.
A number of star players are constantly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently and one name that is dividing the fans is Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale.
Arguably one of the best wingers in world football at the moment, Bale joined Real Madrid back in 2013 after six successful years at Tottenham Hotspur, where he changed into a top-class winger, from a decent full-back. He is the talisman of the Wales national side, where he has managed 68 appearances, scoring 26 goals and is a respected player in the English circuit.
However, his time at the Spanish capital has been marred by injuries and has failed to make more than 20 starts in the domestic league, in any of the last three seasons. But in his time with Los Blancos, he has three UCL titles and a league title and has turned into one of the most decorated wingers in the sport at the moment.
He has eight goals and an assist in 13 league starts this season, and is only back from an injury but reports now suggest that he is concerned about his future at the club and could quite come the end of the season.
Reports from Spain claim that Bale is ready to move back to the Premier League and Chelsea are favourties to land him this summer. It is reported that the Blues may have to spend on Bale before the start of the next season, as there is a decent chance that they will lose their star playmaker in Eden Hazard.
The Belgian is wanted by Real Madrid in the summer and if the Blues fail to keep him in England, Bale becomes a necessity for Conte’s men.
Quick and strong, with a keen eye for goal, Bale is a complete footballer, who can win games on his own, on his day. He is still 28 and is only hitting his peak as a footballer and though the physicality of the Premier League might be a problem, he will surely help Chelsea cover for the loss of Hazard.
If they do keep Hazard, Chelsea may want to stay away from the Welshman, whose injury history will not go down well with the top clubs in England. He will cost close to £90m and is a risk. But is a risk worth taking for the Blues?
