Burnley are among a host of Premier League clubs who are currently monitoring Bradford left-back, Jeremie Milambo. The 17-year-old is being highly rated by scouts from all over the country and the League One outfit might have to part ways with him next summer.
Milambo is a product of the Bradford Academy and has been impressing for the U18 side this season. His remarkable abilities as a youngster have earned him the promotion to the development squad when he was just 16.
His game is well shaped for the modern game where fullbacks are often delegated major offensive responsibilities. Milambo’s prospects will be a hard asset to give up but Bradford are preparing themselves for the inevitable.
It is always harsh when the big guns from the Premier League come in with beefed up offers and the promise of an illustrious career. Burnley certainly are on the path towards developing a significant presence in the English top-flight.
Their season has been recorded as their best ever in the Premier League with the club poised to make a 7th place finish, ahead of Leicester City. Sean Dyche has painted a remarkable story with a defensive setup that is better than 3 clubs in the top-six.
Dyche, who was appointed at Turf Moor in October 2012, has led Burnley to two Premier League promotions, securing a 16th-place finish last season.
He has been rewarded with a new contract which will see his weekly wages rise to £70,000-per-week. This was obviously a major stake in Dyche’s career as interest from Everton and Leicester City did show up earlier in the season.
He has built up a Premier League top-half team with very limited resources. It is only right for the Turf Moor based club to keep building on the progress they have made.
The momentum is on their side and it would be a shame to drop to the lower division after enduring such a promising campaign. Making quality additions and bolstering the youth team is the best way to keep the train on the tracks.
This is the best way to operate for almost any ambitious club in top-flight football. Developing talent from a young age is always better than purchasing a spree of aged professionals who might not necessarily fit in the English game.
Milambo should consider the options that Burnley might be able to provide him. Who knows, maybe one day he will be able to carve out a role in the senior team, now that Stephen Ward is about to turn 33.
