Bristol City’s Bobby Reid has attracted heavy interests from Premier League sides like AFC Bournemouth and Burnley. While Eddie Howe is reportedly preparing for a summer move the Clarets can make a rival offer for the 19-goal hitman.
Reid has been hitting out on all cylinders this season for Championship side, Bristol. The Robins are chasing promotion through the playoffs but are currently off the top 6 by just one point. Their season started off in
Lee Johnson’s Bristol City have been on the slide since the turn of the year and the sides below them have capitalised on the situation.
That means, if they get their act together for the final stretch of the season and replicate their form from the early part of the season, they can finish the campaign in the top six.
Johnson needs to inspire his side again and with the team spirit in the Ashton Gate dressing room, they are more than capable of that.
Reid has charged the offence in 44 total appearances this season and has set his teammates up on 6 occasions, other than the 19 goals he has managed. All credit might go to Johnson who has guided the 25-year-old to play a more offensive role.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Reid has flourished in his newfound striker role and has been at the heart of everything good for Bristol. Once an academy prospect with no first-team opportunities is looking like a player legends are made off.
When asked about Reid’s development, his former academy teammate George Rigg told the press, “He’s always had an eye for goal. He knew where the goal was and he’s really dedicated. Even in his spare time, he’s always doing things practising. There’s a lot of work off the pitch that Bobby puts in to obviously be able to then perform on the pitch.”
Burnley are undergoing their best season in top-flight football with a 7th place spot in the Premier League. While a European qualification spot has not been ruled out completely, the fans at Turf Moor are overjoyed to see their side rise to high stature in top-flight English football.
The striker force currently features Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes with Jeff Hendrick in the shadow striker role. On Wood’s injury crisis, the latter duo has filled up the gap quite well but can do with some improvements.
Reid is young and is developing into the peak of his playing career. Bristol might not be too eager to lose their talisman next summer but a favourable bid will also be difficult to turn down if promotion is not earned.
