Bournemouth winger Antonio Diaz has gone out on a work experience loan to Dorchester Town. According to recent reports, the Cherries youngster has left the Vitality Stadium on a temporary basis to continue with his development at Dorset. The young Spaniard has already had a loan spell with the Magpies when he featured in 9 matches for them. It is now being claimed that he has sealed a return to the club to hopefully grow and develop his game in the coming months.
Dorchester Town is currently playing in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division and it is expected that Diaz will be available for their crunch clash versus Royston Town on Saturday. The Magpies manager Steve Thompson has recently revealed that there was a good chance that the Cherries teenager will seal a move back to Dorset before the end of the current campaign. It is expected that the teenage starlet will now play a part in all of Dorchester’s remaining matches left in this season.
Diaz will be reunited with another Bournemouth academy player and his fellow teammate Ashley Pope at the Avenue Stadium for the rest of the campaign. Only time will tell whether his move would help him break into Eddie Howe’s first-team in the coming years.
Bournemouth are currently in 10th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 36 points in 31 league matches. They are flying high in the top-flight at the moment and have got some positive results in recent weeks which has helped them put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone going into the final stretch of the season.
The departure of Diaz will benefit both parties as he needs to develop his game and get some much-needed first-team experience under his belt before he stands a chance of breaking into Eddie Howe’s senior team in the near future. The 18-year-old winger has enjoyed a successful season with the Cherries Under-21 team as they reached the Hampshire Senior Cup Final and was also an integral part of their Under-18 side’s Youth Alliance Cup success.
Diaz is highly versatile and can play in a number of different positions across the field. He is primarily deployed at left-back but can also play on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him an ideal asset for any of his potential suitors. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Diaz and whether his time with Dorchester turns out to be a success.
