Since the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to replace the departing Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal have finally pulled off the big transfers everyone thought them incapable of. The Gunners have now joined in the race for a star who is being coveted by Manchester United and Manchester City. The player to be linked with a move to the English club is Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
The Ivory Coast midfielder is a star player at the French club and has played over a 100 games since his move back in 2015. He was linked heavily with a move to Barcelona but the Catalans pulled out at the last minute. It seems now that the player is on his way to England with Arsenal keen to add him to their roster. The physically strong hard-hitting midfielder is not shy of a tackle or a physical battle.
He has the energy to run from box to box for 90 minutes and is technically steady on the ball. He is an ideal number 8 and has the battery to play week in week out. He is also apt in playing as a defensive midfielder and can just sit in front of his defence and shield the back four.
As for the Gunners, they are a player short in midfield after losing Santi Cazorla to an unfortunate injury and Francis Coquelin to La Liga. Arsenal has midfielders in Jack Wilshere, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and young Joe Willock. While the midfielders are able to help in the creative game, none of them are able to shield the back four well or play a rough tackling game.
Wilshere is finally showing glimpses of his true potential and Wenger is carefully bringing back his key midfielder into the grind. Should his development continue, he will be an asset to the club. The case for Xhaka is little more confusing as he can be an absolute class on his day but a total disaster on others. A little more discipline to his game will definitely see Xhaka perform well enough to don the Arsenal jersey for years to come. Aaron Ramsey is definitely going to stay at the club as he still churns out impressive performances every now and then.
As for the other option, at just 18 years old, Willock has already experienced European football. He has a good, calm head on him and a decent passing range. Add to that his knack of dribbling past a few in the middle of the park and Arsenal might have a future winner in the ranks.
This would mean that the addition of Seri would complete the midfield set for Wenger who already has a component attack.
