While the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, all teams fighting for a place in the Champions League next season, but with their FA Cup adventures this weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who have already been knocked out, have a chance to cover some ground as they welcome Watford to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Reds are fresh from a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford and will look to bounce back but will face a tricky test against the Hornets, who have been hard to beat this season. Javi Gracia’s men are fresh from a loss at Emirates but have previously troubled Klopp’s Liverpool and will believe that they can get something from this game. But Liverpool cannot afford to lose any ground, standing in the 4th place in the points table and with the international break coming up, are expected to go full strength this weekend. Here is the predicted lineup Klopp might field for this tie:
Team News:
The Reds have a clean bill of health with Nathaniel Clyne, who is also back in training, is expected to be the only player to miss out on a place in the squad for this clash.
Expected lineup (4-3-3):
Defence:
German star Loris Karius is now the first choice under the bar at Anfield and should retain his place for this game against Watford. Joel Matip might replace Dejan Lovren, who had a forgettable afternoon at Old Trafford. He should be partnered with Virgil van Dijk, the new man mountain at the back for the Reds.
Trent Alexandre-Arnold might be replaced with Joe Gomes at right back to add some stability to the backline while Andrew Robertson is the first choice for Klopp at left-back this weekend.
Midfield:
Jordan Henderson played no role in the game against United but could be reinstated into the starting XI, as the deepest of the midfielders for Liverpool. Emre Can retain his place in the side this weekend to add some mettle to the midfield while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should start, to add some urgency and pace to the Liverpool midfield.
Attack:
Roberto Firmino was Liverpool’s best attacker at Old Trafford and will have to be watched closely by the visitor in this game. He will be supported by Sadio Mane on the left and Mohamed Salah on the right, both of who are not easy to stop for Watford.
