Latest reports have confirmed that Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus is unhappy with his contract situation at Manchester City. The young forward has risen significantly in a small amount of time and he now could be out of his way of Manchester unless his contract status improves. With Jesus’s future looking dark, here are three players Manchester City can target to replace him.
Robert Lewandowski
Bayern Munich’s front line is led by none other than goal machine Robert Lewandowski who is apparently set to move this summer. The leading strike force at the German club simply cannot stop scoring. The German is coming off a brilliant hat-trick recently and is in the form of his life over the last few years.
Amidst such hay, he has already been linked with a move to English sides Manchester United or Chelsea. They are apparently one of the few sides besides Real Madrid interested in the Polish international and want to land him come this summer.
Lewandowski first came into the limelight under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund where he became a fearsome striker. His development continued as Bayern Munich poached him up and he helped the Bundesliga giants land several trophies.
With Bayern Munich looking determined to keep hold of Lewandowski, it will be interesting to see if City can move in for him.
Kasper Dolberg
The Danish forward who can play on either wing as well has scored over 35 goals and created over 15 in less than 100 appearances for Ajax. The 23-goal man from last season just turned 20 last year and has a promising career ahead. If City can make a move for him, he could be a star in the making.
Moreover, he is a young player, meaning that he could be an asset in the team for years to come, Dolberg’s dynamic style of play will be however somewhat curtailed by Guardiola’s disciplinary approach to the game but it will only make the striker a better and more productive player for the future.
Mauro Icardi
Icardi moved to Inter Milan back in the summer of 2013 from fellow Serie A side Sampdoria and has since gone on to become a star player at San Siro. He has a contract with the Italian giants that run till 2021 and any party who might be interested in the Inter ace will have to fork out a fortune for the Argentine.
Icardi has gone on to make over 180 appearances for the club and has scored almost 100 goals in the process, adding another 25 assists as well in the process. He is a mainstay at the club and being given the captain’s armband, it is clear Inter expect him to stay at the club for the long run.
His heroics at the first Milan derby where he scored a hat-trick to sink Inter’s arch-rivals, has endeared him to the fans even more and it will cost way more than a mere transfer value of the player to take away Icardi. However, given Pep’s situation at City, Icardi could prove to be a pivotal replacement.
