Manchester United have one of the strongest squads in England at the moment but not many first-team players are scoring marks with Jose Mourinho this season. The Portuguese manager never shies himself away from taking it to the media to vent his frustration on his players and one such player, who is yet to win the trust of the manager is the full-back, Luke Shaw.
Having joined the Red Devils as the next best thing in England, back in 2014, Shaw was expected to be the first choice LB for both club and country for the next few years but he has failed to cement a place in the first team, putting in a number of below par performances this season and the last. Mourinho once again tore into him after the QF of the FA Cup against Brighton and reports now claim that Shaw has had enough and is ready to move on in the summer.
It is understood that Mourinho’s treatment of the player has turned him against the club and that he is certain to quit Old Trafford, come the start of the next season. So who can snap up Luke Shaw? Here are the three English teams that should look to sign the English international:
Leicester City:
The Foxes have used Christian Fuchs and Ben Chilwell at left-back this season but Claude Puel is evidently unhappy with those options and is in search of an LB in the upcoming transfer window. Fuchs is now 31 while Chilwell is still 21 and Leicester needs a player who can walk into the first team and cement his place in the long term. Shaw is as good an option as any for the Foxes.
Newcastle United:
Rafa Benitez is another manager desperate for a left-back this summer. None of Javier Manquillo, Paul Dummett, Chancel Mbemba or Jesus Gamez has done enough to warrant a place in the first team next season and Newcastle United are sure to spend on a full-back before the start of the next season. They have Kenedy on loan at disposal but he has played in a more advanced role and Shaw is one option that can solve this issue at St James’ Park.
Tottenham Hotspur:
Finally, Mauricio Pochettino, who was linked with a move for Luke Shaw in the past, will surely look to sign him up this time around. Spurs could lose English international Danny Rose this summer, that too to Manchester United and there is no reason why they should look beyond Luke Shaw for his replacement for the next season.
